Wednesday afternoon at Starbucks Ikano. Awaiting for tomorrow's team building program which starts at 7am. Anyway, from my seating right now, I can see that Starbucks cafe's patron are kinda hostile looking because most people sits by themselves. Some in office attire in which I have some level of doubt if they are playing truant like myself. Some in T-Shirts and shorts like myself as well.
Now it comes to my attention when I want to go to the loo. What should a solo-cafe-cyber-surfer would do? Here are some usable tips knowing that laptop computer theft in this region thrives because of the economic gap between rich and poor in Malaysia.
1) Lock it with Kensington lock with the table. It would be very awkward for a thief to carry the table and laptop with him/her. A person cannot run very fast with the weight too.
2) Pass it to the starbucks employee but would you want to trust them with your expensive equipment? Depends and varies from case to case basis.
3) Pack your stuff and take it along to the loo. Leave your drink and a written note. For example "Take my drink away and you shall die" or "Will be back in 5 minutes time".
