I have to admit my I am seriously in need help. Faced the computer since I woke up, except for time I went out to eat and fetching arriving colleagues from KL.
Here was a thought that hid inside me for sometime. Every time during when I am not facing le computer, this thought resurface automatically. With no aid of a recording tool, I will rely on my memory that doesn't serve very well at times. Anyway, the following paragraphs were the thought I had during one morning breakfast at a 'mamak' shop nearby.
Sitting at the table having my morning 'nes-lo or mi-cafe or nescafemixmilo', I noticed an elderly couple sitting directly across me. The old woman was quietly nibbling her toast "Roti Kahwin - Bread with kaya and butter toast" while the elderly man was about to light a cigarette. The thing that caught my attention was the speed they do things, to me, I find they are steadily slow in motion. What about to them?
Many at times when we were younger, we find that the days were hard to go by. One day seemed to be quite long. It felt like ages for the school bell to ring end of day. As we grow older, we may find that a day passes out pretty fast, especially the weekends. That would mean a year will be felt brief for the elderly I saw, wouldn't it?
Two vehicles side by side moving at the same speed when see from either of the vehicle, none of them seems to be moving at all. Driven by the example above supporting the “Theory of Relativity” (Albert Einstein) for me here I explain.
When we were a kid, we were smaller and can move faster, do things hastily quick and without worries. As a result, that renders the young looking at world slower. Thus, reminiscence of our childhood seems so fantastic as an adult when we tend to tell the young to enjoy it while it lasted. "Days were much longer in those days. Now everything is fast moving." one might say.
As we grow older and larger, the activities we do may require more planning and risk assessment. In turn that may render us slightly slower but much bigger in achievement than a kid. Therefore, this may hit us to wonder how fast the day passes or even the weeks because we are bigger and slower by comparison.
Ultimately, for elders with most of their muscles degenerating, movement may seem to be slower and same goes to their brain. Rendering them slow may cause them to see the world as faster and quicker. This may mean a year will be very short for an elderly, will it not?
I am referring to the most likely specimens but not entirely all. In fact my thoughts may not be even true but I state my perception as we all may become elderly ourselves one day, so brace yourselves everyone.
