Job Fair Everyone!

Sometimes I wonder how it was like then? Read this article in Star JOB FAIR today.

Seven years ago, when I graduated. I spent 4 months looking and hunting down jobs. Wait , I arrive 2 days before Commonwealth Games 1998 and started to work with a local software firm in December 1998. I still remember during the negotiation of salary.

Boss : Due to the current economic situation, our company is expanding and we see more opportunities ahead. Therefore, we are willing to offer you a sum of RM1xxx.00.
Me(in my mind now) : What economic situation? Aren't we booming with the DOT com hype revving crazily?
Me(the then me) : Wow Great! When can I start?

Web application was a new thing then in 98/99. IBM's Websphere was still at its infancy where as Netscape Application Server(KIVA then iPlanet) and Weblogic were setting the standards. Amazon was new. ICQ is old story, Yahoo Messenger also was new. MP3 was just 3 years old and WinAMP was great. Ooops got carried away.

Actually the government can only do this much. Based on statistics and feedback they scratch the surface to possible solution to this prblem. However, 95% of the effort must come from those 19 over thousand unemployed / unemployable graduates themselves. Otherwise work at McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut or even wash cars.
