The name 's Katrina

As I was reading the recent catastrophies in Pakistan, the name New Orleans caught my attention in small fonts. That reminds me also the tragedy in Bali. Normally from my lay-person's view, who ever discovers something like a piece of rock in space, he/she can name it after themselves. Therefore, here lies the question of who named this hurricane? Was it Katrina her/himself? Was Katrina suppose to be pronounce as Kata-Rina or Kurt-thrina? Since after the disaster, would anyone from the New Orleans or Florida name their new born Katrina? If it happens, will she be made fun of in school? Will she able to take that tease and live on? Could she freak out and start praying for the storm to come once more the sweep these bullies away?

I think it makes sense to name storms after human beings because it gives them a less hostile acceptance. Imagine naming Katrina as the Storm8811967 Category 5, which sounds very strict.
I urge everyone to start naming events like "The Bali Bombings II", "Paki-Afgan-Quake", "Hurricane Katrina" and etc etc.
