Tuesday morning Ipoh.

I woke up exceptionally early at 7.00a.m, by the noise of vehicles screaming pass my parents' house in Ipoh and by the itchiness of my scalp. Nevertheless, I happened realized that I used to be immune to the noise or it's just that our nation is suffering from chronic-to-much-cars-and-motorbikes-on-the-road disease. Maybe I never realised that there are residence in Malaysia that are more peaceful then.

Somehow my mind continued to reminiscence the past two days of activities. Now let’s start with STOMP! It was a birthday treat for MondayBluer. However I have to agree with a friend. She just cannot see the point of paying that much of money to watch a bunch of people banging on dustbins and broom. Yes, they are creative in producing tempo from the simplest utility such as plastic bags, but it isn’t much of an entertainment at the last one hour of the show. Nevertheless, seems like MB enjoyed it more that I did which was the important fact. By the way the duration of the performance was 1 hour and 50 minutes! Damn, I rather watch ROBOT and cost 20 times less.

Last Wednesday was MB’s birthday and we went to have dinner at this exquisite Vietnamese restaurant at Changkat Tong Shin called Sao Nam. Nestle within a refurbished mid colonial building it serves authentic and fusion type of Vietnamese cuisine. This was my life's 3rd visit to Sao Nam because honestly, the bill can be a bit dear sometimes, especially for an E-quadrant person like me.
Two hours prior to the appointment, I rushed to make reservation. The receiver answered was very accommodating for my requests after I have explained the occasion. Why don't you serve birthday cakes? Isn't this a restaurant? I added. "Sir, I am sure we can come out with a replacement, so we see you at 8 then ya?", he answered with confidence. Wow! I exercised my right as a consumer and they reacted well. Bravo Sao NAM! Dinner finished and out came the birthday song with a birthday................

CUSTARD?!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!

Perhaps it was very surprising that MB got her very first birthday custard. Yes, she did not have the traditional icing cake but custard instead. She laughed with delight may because we were pretty much full or maybe that she would have been saved from embarrassment with a big cake or maybe I am that broke!

After her birthday celebration, recently I have been misinterpreting her speech. Just as yesterday morning, I happened to mishear her request to have “Chee Yoke Fun” (Pork noodles) instead of “Chee Cheong Fun”. Although for mishap she was able to hold on to her reactions like a true lady would and gulped the “Chee Cheong Fun” like it was no other “Chee Yoke Fun” she ever had.

In fact the most ridiculous misinterpretation was on Saturday evening dinner. Asked her I did of the venue to dine and she said “My Kitchen”. Somehow unconsciously in my mind I was set for mini tom yam seafood steam pot. Anyway, we drove ourselves individually to “My Kitchen” and I was there first. Got in ordered a large pearl milk tea and started to skim through the menu. After my drink arrived, I proceeded to order our food on behalf of MB as well since she is unusually late. As the order was relayed back to the kitchen, a SMS arrived and it wrote “I have already ordered”. To my surprise, I looked around and saw no MB in sight. Smirking with a duh face, I immediately called for the waitress to stop my food order. Phoned MB and found out that both of us were waiting for one another in different restaurants about four kilometers apart, unbelievable? Believe it!
