The Vanishing Fugitive

It was instantaneous I replied yes to join the team of 9 on an excursion of 7 days to Mount Tahan. The peak stands at 2187m asl. In order to conquer a person need to traverse large extend of pre-historic tropical rain forest in which some believe to be 150 million years old.

When I said yes, it did not occur to me that the environment would be tough and unforgiving at times. Survival is mainly the whole concept that architects the natural surroundings of the forest.

Anyway, before attempting the climb, the team has appointed an experience climber to adapt us for the journey. In within 4 weekends we were suppose to camp and hike up different hills and mountains. Gunung (Mount) Nuang is considered the toughest and similar to the environment in Tahan.

My blog entry is regarding a fugitive leech. It got into my shoes and stay hidden somehow unnoticeable. As I got down from the training mountain, I changed to a pair of comfortable slippers and left the hiking shoes in the trunk. Cutting story short, I got home took out the socks and dip it into a solution mix with Vanish.
